You can’t put a price on the sound of the waves.
But that’s exactly what you get when you stay at Aqua Wellness Resort. It’s just part of the experience when you book one of their treetop villas set above a lovely white-sand beach in a secluded bay.
The Wellness Resort
Time slows down from the moment you enter the welcome center and find yourself eye level with the monkeys in the trees. Every aspect of the resort is designed with a conscious connectivity to nature. The sustainably harvested wooden walkways wind through the trees to a maze of villas tucked into the hillside. The privacy of each villa preserved by thoughtfully oriented private balconies and dipping pools.
A Plethora of Activities
There’s no shortage of things to do in and around the white crescent shaped bay. You can start the day with a morning yoga classes held on the elevated ocean side platform. Then, choose from a menu of activities including surfing, stand up paddle boarding, sport fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, guided nature walks, horseback riding and even salsa dance lessons. Day trips and city tours of Granada, Masaya and San Juan del Sur are also available with advanced booking. Or just soak up the sunshine in the hammock swings and cushioned lounge chairs that line the private beach.
The onsite cafe and bakery serves locally sourced and freshly baked delicacies for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. Foodies will find it difficult to resist the authentic Nicaraguan cooking classes and famous chocolate workshop offered on site.
A Resort with a Heart
But Aqua Wellness Resort is more than just a pretty face. It’s a resort with a heart that has a deep love affair with Nicaragua.
A recent visit to Aqua Wellness Resort taught me that the resort management has a vision much broader than the boundaries of the resort. They recently hosted “Industry Night” to encourage collaboration over competition among owners and staff of luxury resorts, hotels, ecolodges, restaurants and non-profits throughout the country – all for the greater goal of developing sustainable tourism in Nicaragua.
Trevor Barran CEO of Aqua Wellness Resort captured it perfectly in his welcome speech,
“By working together, we can make Nicaragua the tourism destination that we want. We don’t want Cancun. We don’t want Costa Rica! We want a tourism and hospitality industry that dazzles visitors with the unique beauty, nature, culture and people of this country.
We want all that while at the same time making it sustainable; a tourism industry that respects and protects the environment and puts itself into the service of local communities.
Let’s continue to have the passion to invest in developing local skills in the way that our diverse experiences and backgrounds have equipped us to contribute. And let’s stand together to give each other the strength to do more, and be the friends we all need to persevere.”
